My Dear, It Was Just A Dream
My Dear, it was just a dream is a short devised piece, initially developed within the MA Performance Design at Central St Martins, London, in need of further development. It is derived from a collection of fairytales including Bluebeard, Fitcher’s Egg and the Robber-Bride Groom. It is an investigation of women's role within fairytale, thematically and within specific roles, specifically exploring the notion of female curiosity. It is designed to relook at fairytales in a modern, post-freudian context, and challenge the design conventions with the field of fairytale, incorporating projections, and puppetry, and investigating the use of film within theatrical conventions. It is designed for nightmares, inspired by the overlap of dream and fairytale of what happens when you drift into sleep, away from of the safety bedroom walls, into the glittering blackness of the forest.
Devised and Designed by Claire Townsend.
Sound Design by Shanel Cuthbert
Projection Queen Laura OHannessian
Initially Performed by Laura Darrall, Adele Cameron, Hannah Redford, Georgia Harrison
